English Springer SpanielHistory/Origin Other speculation is the belief that the breed was brought by the Romans to England in trade routes from the East with Spaniels that were short-faced, resembling the Pekingese, Pugs, Shih Tsus, the Japanese Chins, Tibetan Spaniels, and many other of the sporting kinds of dogs. So, it was concluded, that today's English Springer Spaniel came from these Spaniels. Later in 1902, it was registered in the English Kennel Cub, and in the American Kennel Club in 1927, thus establishing records of English beginnings. Description Its colors could be a mixture of white, black, and brown. The most popular coat shades on the other hand, are white and liver combination. The English Springer Spaniel is usually 20-inch tall to the shoulders and weighs 45 to 55 pounds when nature. It is the largest of the spaniel hunters. It is very sturdy and energetic and loves to pursue its game. The dog is a lovable, loyal, faithful, and a good family pet. It also fits well to older children. However, it won't do well as a guard because it is too tamed. This type is a diversified gun and sports dog that answers to both hunt to retrieve, and a field-breed in sports. Temperament It is also a friendly dog and compatible to smaller pets. Sometimes, it may be aloof around strangers, but not necessarily timid. Its owners should give it enough exercise and activity because when put in a boring situation, it could get destructive and annoying. |
