Dobermann
History/Origin The ratios used in mixing and the specific breeds remain unknown. Some theories say that this dog is a mix of German Beauceron, Rottweilers, English Greyhound, Greyhounds, and Pinschers. Description The Dobermann is born with a long tail, though it is often removed a few days after its birth. This tail-removing procedure is known as docking. It is done to make the dog look sleek and polished. It also makes the dog less prone to being grabbed and rendered vulnerable during police operations. The ears of this dog can also be cropped to keep them permanently upright . Temperament This dog has an ample intelligence, so if properly trained, it makes an excellent dog for guarding and watching. This dog is commonly used for police operations though it is not as great as the bomb-sniffing dogs of the canine units. It can provide a lot of protection even from human aggression. This dog is not too popular as a pet, though many families are opting to have one for the sake of added security. |
