History/Origin
The Chihuahua has a very colorful and pretty interesting history. Back in Mayan Civilization in the 5th Century, Pyramids in Chichen Itza, Yucatan were found to have illustrations of dogs that had features very similar to Chihuahua. Also in the 9th century, the Toltec used in building the Monastery of Huejotzingo had images found of Chihuahua. The monastery can be found between Pubela and Mexico City.

Some people believed that the little dog became a relevant part of the Aztec and Toltec cultures. This small dog was called Techichi and were kept by rich and influential people. They also had important roles in their spiritual practices like tasks including taking on the sins of the dead so the dead can reach their destination. It was also believed that the dogs had this responsibility of guiding the dead to fight the evil. They were buried and burned with the corpse to fulfill these responsibilities. However, other speculations say that the Chihuahua must have been originated from the mix of the hairless dog, which came from Asia and the Techichi. After the development of this breed, it was then thought that the Chihuahua reached America.

The very recent findings about the Chihuahua's origin is that the today's Chihuahua came from a Mexico state, which was brought to America. Some people have this theory that today's breed of Chihuahua is a cross breed of the Techichi and the small canines of Texas, Mexico, and Arizona. Now, the Chihuahua that we know has become everybody's favorite perfect companion.

Description
The Chihuahua has two types: the smooth and long coat. The Chihuahua Long Coat , either a bitch or a dog, can weigh 1 kg. to 3 kg. It can have the height of 15 cm - 23 cm at the withers. It has a rounded skull and lean jaws and cheeks. Its cute nose is normally short and comes in different colors depending on the canine's fur. If the dog is blond, then it should have pink nose, otherwise, it is black. The Chihuahua Long Coat usually comes in blond, snow white, and dark colors like brown and black.

Although the Chihuahua is known to be small, its legs are very straight and has muscular hind legs. It can be noticed too that its tail is sickle-shaped and its feet are dainty. Its ears are flaring and it has full beautiful eyes. The Chihuahua Long Coat normally has very long, wavy, flat coat while some has undercoats. They are popular for being tiny and lovable, and they are classified under the toy group of dogs.

Temperament
The Chihuahua Long Coat , just like any other Chihuahuas, can be very nosy. They have this habit of barking and being aggressive. Unfortunately, this dog lacks some social manners because it doesn't like being with other dog breeds. It can also be trained using a small tray, while most of them just stay in the house or travel with their masters.

Although the Chihuahua Long Coat is comfortable with humans, it does not like being around with strangers. It is not advisable to leave them with children because it can get too aggressive and dangerous. It can be a good watchdog since it likes protecting its territory. The Chihuahua Long Coat can be a good companion in small pads. But the owners must always remember to take good care of it especially of its teeth, which is prone to tartar.
